No souring relation with IMF, governor
Serbia’s central bank Governor Radovan Jelasic said that IMF’s acceptance of Kosovo as an independent state will not have any negative impact on Serbia.
“There will be no economic effect on Serbia, because our quota remains. That means that from the point of view of an eventual need for taking out funds, the situation would remain unchanged,” Jelasic said.?
“Now it is only a question of what will happen politically regarding relations with the IMF and the World Bank. Relations have been very good up until now and I honestly hope that this is how it will remain,” Jelasic said.
Jelasic also rejected the idea that Serbia replace its domestic currency, Dinar, with Euro saying that such move would not solve Serbia’s economic problems.
