Serbia, Israel sign deal; Croatia, Serbia indict killers
Ministers of agriculture of Serbia and Israel Sasa Dragin and Shalom Simhon signed an agreement on cooperation between the two countries in the area of agriculture, which will contribute to an increase of the volume of trade of agricultural products.
The agreement also includes cooperation in the area of education in the agricultural sector.
Dragin underscored that this is one of the agreements that will bring a “lot of good” to both countries, which have yet to reach a full capacity of trade of agricultural products and know-how.
Simhon said that the agreement covers a number of topics, including experience and know-how that Israel will place at Serbia’s disposal, aimed at better management of water sources, development of new irrigation technologies, increase of crops and know-how in the area of milk processing and other stock-raising branches.
Israeli Ambassador to Serbia Arthur Kohl also attended the signing of the agreement.
Mafia men indicted
Croatian and Serbian prosecutors have simultaneously charged nine people with last year’s slaying of an influential Croatian journalist who was investigating organized crime.
Ivo Pukanic, editor-in-chief of the weekly Nacional, and his aide were killed a year ago in a bombing in Zagreb.
In Belgrade, prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic said Monday that Sreten Jocic, a reputed mafia boss, is charged with ordering and organizing the killing. Radisavljevic said two of his associates were charged along with him.
Croatian authorities issued an indictment against six other people, charging them with killing Pukanic on Jocic’s orders. The indictment says Jocic wanted to prevent Pukanic to further investigate Balkans organized crime groups.
