Roundup: Serbian rep beaten, robbed

A representative in Serbia’s Parliament was attacked, beaten then robbed around 11 pm in Belgrade. The representative from the Democratic  Party, Biljana Hasanovic-Korac, was attack by a criminal who hit her several times in the head with a metal object, then stole her purse. The  attacker was later arrested. Hasanovic-Korac is in a stable condition.

Serbian police has arrested a man who was impersonating the Prime Minster of the Serb Republic, Milorad Dodik, in order to solicit illegal donations for nonexistent charities, authorities say. He opened up numerous bank accounts under Dodik’s identity.

The luxurious yacht of the former communist tyrant Josip Broz Tito was pronounced a “public  good” by the Croatian government after it seized it from a Greek owner who did not live up to the “obligations” at the time of the sale say the Croatian authoroties. The yacht called “Seagull” is now the property of the Croatian coastal town of Rijeka. Tito was en ethnic Croat who waged war during the WWII against Serbian pro Western guerilla called the Chetniks.

Serbian authorities have another dead body in found in the Tisa river where last week 19 ethnic Albanians from Serbia’s Kosovo province  drowned while trying to illegally cross into Hungary. The body, sixth one, was found by local fishers.

Serbian lawmakers have proposed an abolition of visas for travel to and from Israel. Under the plan, both Israeli and Serbian citizens would be free to travel without visas.

Croatian media is revealing the “secret” border agreement Croatia made with Slovenia with respect to the territorial demands Croatia is making on the Adriatic border. The deal says that Slovenia must have an acess to the Adriatic sea.

Another swine flu case is registered in Serbia’s city of Kragujevac. Respiratory machines have been attached to a 25-year old female patient deemed in a critical condition.

Serbian industrial production in the month of October fell 6.3% from the same time last year. Production for the first 9 months of this year is 15% smaller then the production in 2008 during the same period.

Bill Clinton will be a guest of Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian separatists who have violently seized Serbia’s province and declared that it is an independent state. Clinton will be a guest for the unveiling of a statue the separatists are erecting in honor of his efforts that have contributed to the successful ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Kosovo Serbs, destruction of hundreds of Serbian churches and an illegal recognition of the declaration of independence.

    Communism was destructing to the Serbian faith and thereby so was Tito. He was a good politician, but not a good man. He silenced all those that opposed him. He was a dictator.

    Both Partizan’s and Chetnik’s were killing each other. This is the sad part about the Serbians in general. Even with a real and common enemy they find a way to weaken themselves. All that talk of Serbian Unity is just like a fairy tale – unless one day they actually start practicing CCCC instead of just preaching it.

    Your right Mr Smith, WW2 was the most destructive time for the Serbs. Had they been united and not joined Tito Serbia would had been in a lot better position now. The country would had been larger with a bigger population..
