Dutch may open EU doors to Serbia
The assessment of the Serbian parliamentary delegation after its visit to Netherlands is that the Dutch Parliament is debating the possibility of endorsing the EU interim deal, SAA, deadlocked because the Dutch demand Serbia arrest General Ratko Mladic wanted by the Hague war crimes tribunal.
Holland might change its stand only once ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz had presented his positive evaluation said the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Serbian National Assembly Dragoljub Micunovic.
“Almost all EU member states support us in this, except for Holland,” Micunovic said and added that “Holland does not want to be perceived as our enemy and does not want us to think of them as a vengeful and xenophobe country… they are also looking for a way out of this situation.”
Serbian media is reporting, citing its own sources, that the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “lobbies for Serbia in Holland” saying that Clinton and the US Ambassador for war crimes Steven Repp are trying “to objectively present to Holland efforts being made by Serbia so as to get from that country positive signal for de-blocking of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA).”
“Those believing that the USA might make Holland change its stance are convinced that the key words from Serge Brammertz – ‘Serbia is cooperating with the ICTY in full’ – should come first. As ‘Blic’ learns he is coming on a two-day visit to Belgrade on November 4,” says the Belgrade newspaper.
During the visit to Belgrade, Brammertz will meet with Serbia’s secret service agency BIA which plans, sources say, to share the latest intelligence on the Mladic case.
Recent government survey has found that majority of Serbs are against the arrest of Ratko Mladic. Rasim Ljajic, official who is in charge of the hunt for Mladic, also says 26% of those surveyed support Mladic’s capture, compared to 50% a year ago.
French Ambassador to Serbia Jean Francois Terral said that Serbia’s cooperation with the Hague tribunal is “completely satisfactory” and has guaranteed that “Serbia will join the European Union”.
German Ambassador to Serbia, Wolfram Maas, noted that EU does not seek from Serbia to recognize Kosovo as independent in order to join the EU.
Maas said that the recent statement by the German EU representative Doris Pack, who suggested Serbia must recognize Kosovo in order to join, were not made in the name of the official German government.
Maas said that cooperation in the region does not mean that the EU will seek from Serbia to recognize Kosovo.

SERBIANNA
Being an American, I would say to Serbia that America and the EU need Serbia more than Serbia needs the EU. Most of the former Eastern Block Countries are not very happy with the way their inclusion into the EU has turned out and other than Poland and the Czech Republic the Eastern Block countries are starting to see the ugly old Communist days as the “good old days”. That is a shame because there are only a few in the EU who are enjoying the spoils of the Union and the others now realize they were sold a bill of goods. Democracy IS the best form of government but beware of the elite in the EU,(Germany, UK and France). They have no intention of being an equal union and THAT is why they attempted weaken and nearly destroy Serbia to begin with. Now that the EU is starting to fall apart, they want to play nice with Serbia but NOW is the time for Serbia to tell them “IPM”.
PERO,
THIS WAS AN EXELENT TALKBACK,
ESPECIALLY THIS -
beware of the elite in the EU,(Germany, UK and France).
They have no intention of being an equal union
THE ONLY ONES BENEFITTING FROM UNION IS THE CENTER/GERMANY.
SRBIA BEVERE OF EU.
SWEDEN.
They can open the doors all they want, Serbia should not and must not join the E.U. The E.U is falling apart and will soon fall, they relie on the U.S for money, however the new by- American polocy, put the E.U in destrution mode and China and Japan in trouble ( they relie on the buying of the U.S). Therefore the countries that joined the E.U in the East will be sucked and dryed FIRST! So theres no need for Serbia to join the E.U…..RUSSIA……CHINA!!! HELLO!!
If Tadic is in power at the time, Serbia will join EU which is a huge mistake.
Only countries high up on the food chain will get the benfits while others will only be servants to them.
I just hope the Serbs have the sense next time to elect the right people who have the guts to do what is necessary, just don’t let the votes be counted in Washington.
