China supports Serbia on peaceful Kosovo aims
Serbian Minister of Defense Dragan Sutanovac says that the Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping endorsed Serbia’s peaceful efforts to solve Kosovo crisis and expressed support for Serbia’s desire to join the European Union.
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed this position to Minister Sutanovac who was on visit to China where he signed an agreement on cooperation in defense.
Sutanovac held a lecture at the Beijing Military Academy explaining the situation in the Balkans. Chinese officers were interested in his views and expressed great deal of knowledge on the region.
“I was both surprised and delighted at that, because it is obvious they are interested in the entire region, especially in the Serbian Army,” Sutanovac was quoted as saying.
Separately, Minister Sutanovac send a telegram to the Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and the families of soldiers that died in the submarine accident expressing his of condolences.
“On the occasion of the tragic death of Russian soldiers, on behalf of the Serbian Defense Ministry and the Serbian Army, I express my deepest condolences. Please, convey Serbia’s message of condolence to the families of deceased soldiers,” says the telegram.
Sutanovac also expressed hope for a speedy recovery of the injured soldiers.
